Hangzhou
2012
I visited Hangzhou – a very popular tourist destination- three times. Being a part of the ancient Silk Road, it’s become one of the wealthiest cities in China, rich in culture and heritage as well as in beautiful sceneries.
Hangzhou has been rated China’s happiest city for a few years when I visited it. Although it took only about an hour on the train to reach it from Shanghai, the city felt much different than the big metropolis. In spite of it counting around 6 millions in population, Hangzhou felt calm, energetic but not stressful and yes, happy.
Xi Hu – The West Lake

Once built by the rich and exclusively used by them, now the lake is open to everyone, developed with many sights and leisure spots. It’s designed to be one of the central spots for visitors that tell the tale of Hangzhou – the middle age capital of the Song dynasty.
